WACKY, ABSTRACT MONDAYS: Whirl it Around, Cici!

Anyone who knows me knows I appreciate musical artist who can dance, who seem to be reincarnates of predecessors such as Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson or any other Jackson. One of my favorite artists for a time was a woman by the name of Ciara. In previous videos, she gave us great choreography, represented for the hood and definitely filled a void being Aaliyah-esque. Now, I cannot tell if her career is fading or if it is coming back. Crunk beats and dancing is what she is known for and in her new video, Ride, I really believe it looks more like an act of desperation rather than an actual Ciara video. The dancing is enjoyable though, but in some instances she seems extremely masculine. Over-sexualized, hard hitting choreo, bull-riding mixed with a wet t-shirt contest, thick thighs and smooth legs. Here's Ciara feat. Ludacris ... a wacky, asbtract Monday full feature presentation!.

Dontcha' Know Rude Boy

Rihanna, released her new video, "Rude Boy." The video is significantly artistic with a variety of effects surrounding her throughout the entire video. Words in comic book style, different colors and lack of colors stand out for me, while other graphics seem to collaborate with Rihanna's movement. Love the island vibe for this island phrased, upbeat song. She really seems to give her all when it comes to dancing in the video and I like the fashion she is rockin' too. Big ups to Jamaica, Barbados and Haiti!

Wacky, Abstract Mondays: They will Astonish.

Being an uber fan of X-comics, I truly had to mention my love for Joss Whedon's Astonishing X-Men series. It was a story arc filled with intriguing plots, like the controversial rebirth of Colossus. Chapters including a twisted, sentient Cerebro and outer space bouts. Joss really depicted how powerful each mutant on the team was in this story-line and he also wrote with a great sense of humor. The issue where the team finds Colossus is remarkable and Emma, Wolverine and Beast confirm it is him at the same time because of Emma's telepathy and Hank/Logan's sense of smell. Subsequently, Colossus and Kitty sleep together in another issue and she phases through the bed and to the lower floor. This series displayed action and humor and I would expect nothing less from the writer of Buffy, The Vampire Slayer. Here is an interesting web video dedicated to The Astonishing X-Men.

An Acoustic Experience

Paramore, my favorite band, doing a cover of "Use Somebody," originally by Kings of Leon. I truly believe Hayley's voice is amazing for someone of her age. It is intensely strong and it touches my spirit. Enjoy.
